This Chasm
One day you will see, one day
you will be
Subjected to your own
recognition of the chasm you have speared in the Earth
Like a fork shovel of dearth
devoid of humanity and the disparity
Between emotional concern for
those that once loved you
That you have shed and
mislead yourself into believing
You were just in deceiving
into a maelstrom of misery
Holding your broom like a
sorcerers’ staff up like a lighting rod
To absorb every molecule of
energy that would pass
Through this air spoken
between you and I
Where I tried to confide the
smallest sense of trust
To repair this slain child I
once called love
Dead carcass flung in this
canyon, open soar of a body
Festering and calling up to
you now like a seething wound
That you can not exhume from
your thoughts reverberating
In the chambers of every
mutated cell in your arms
Trickling through your veins
into your legs
Like an acidic river
wandering the maze you attempted to divert
For as long as you could of
all this past washed over and swallow the good
That I have done down like
medicine attempting to cure you
And spitting it out in my
face just to imbue you with petulance
A disdain for this verdict
falls like rain in September
Droplets of truth and all you
can do is spit up in the wind
And watch it land back on
your face and blame me for the tenacity
And bitterness you seem to
taste
In your own words that you allocate
to me, seething with hate
That could fill up a sea and
expiate for nothing and hock out a hurricane
Swirling around you until you
hear the sounds
Of the tornadoes picking you
up like Dorothy on crack
To fling your flailing limbs
down into that
Chasm between us, down into
the divide
That you have created and
your life will forever subside
