Siblings and Time Zones

Siblings and Time Zones

Parallel movements of siblings through time zones
Exposure to these themes recurring from childhood
Like lightning bolts igniting the crux of who we have become
In the eyes of the other and to the measured mix of ourselves

That we are family and exposing through sounds expounded
Laughter intermixed with the revelry of sibling community
To share a space apart yet together in function
That these times for ourselves are not that all together different

To appreciate the sentiments of this discourse and symmetry
In the leaves of this oak as the boughs expand
From New York to New Orleans
Thinking of you in your acrobatic movements dangling

And me a spinning top marching in that space of brass bands
Bouncing and guitar strings reverberating
Knowing the space between us is combining into an intimate want
Proximate and delicate in the cotton of these hours

Stitched in softness and natural as the outgrowth of those days
Shared and collected in measured proving grounds of what hopes
Rest inside at night and can see over the dawn’s verbalization
That even though you are not here I know you can hear me
