Trapeze Artists

Trapeze Artists

Then I say to you fall
Forget safety harnesses on this trapeze
And leap for all the sense of that rip chord
Of exhilarating liberation that is love

Popping domino explosions inside your chest
Forever sense of self preservation set aside
For the daring do to believe a woman can defy gravity with impunity
And believe that I will catch you

I will lay hold to your salvation in the brands of these arms
Outstretched and shielded from the wire brush burns
Of operating so close to damnation to feel the singe of failure
Like a bristling wind upon the cheek of a bunkered pheasant

For the foxes of this world have fed enough
And now is a time to brave the leap into open air
Testing the boundaries of what can be
Taking action to the impending pressures of this system

Setting your yard stick distances for so long
Under professional discretion to maintain control of that which could
Confound and enslave you into a yolk of feeling for a heart
Beyond the boundaries of the length of these ropes
And the braces can assure your security

You have pumped the bursting of my being into undulating spasms
Incapable of maintaining the civility to simply enter data into my time and billing system
During my work day, which has fallen on its face into a wreck of non productivity

Jump, leap upon this frame and lay waste to these dragons of lethargy
Bolting your feet to the stand and lay claim to that which you want
Separate the conundrum of what-ifs into a bullet of yes
And shoot me in the sky and I will fall for you
Humbly obedient to the gravity of your voice
